Swirly Birds oder das Stempelset, das ich nie haben wollte… (GDP #041)

Als Demonstrator habe ich ja regelmäßig die Möglichkeit, den neuen Katalog vor meinen Kunden zu sehen und ausgewählte Produkte vorzubestellen. So auch dieses Mal. ABER eigentlich haben mir mal wieder keine dieser Produkte gefallen – und schon gar nicht dieses komische „Swirly Bids“ – Set… wenigstens ein Produkt, was ich gedanklich gleich von meiner Wunschliste ausschließen konnte.

As a demonstrator I have the opportunity every time a new catalog is launched, to check out the catalog before my customers can and to even preorder some of the products. And here is what happened this time: None of the products to preorder really caught my fancy and especially not that weird „Swirly Birds“ stamp set… that was one of the first products I spottet in the new catalog that I knew I would NEVER order.

Das dachte ich jedenfalls -bis ich gesehen habe, was andere Demonstratoren mit diesem Stempelset gezaubert haben. Dann fing ich selbst an, Ideen zu entwickeln. Das Set ist ja so variable und wirklich kreativ…. also…. hab ich’s doch bestellt – Typisch! 😉 – Geht Euch das auch manchmal so?

At least that was what I thought before I saw what other demonstrators created with it… Then I started having my own ideas of how I could use it and it didn’t take too long until I knew it was one of those sets you just have to have 😉 Does that ever happen to you?

Gestern war nun mein erster Workshop seit Katalogstart und hier ist eine der Karten, die wir gemeinsam gebastelt haben. Farblich habe ich sie extra so gewählt , dass sie zur neuen Color-Challenge vom Global Design Project passt – obwohl die Blumen sich bestimmt auch als „echte“ Sonnenblumen gut machen würden 😉 . Was denkt ihr?

Yesterday I had my first workshop after the catalog launch and here is one of the cards we made. I picked the colors so they would match the new GDP-Color Challenge – but I bet if you change them around a bit the flowers would also make some great sunflowers – what do you think? Guess I will have to try that one of these days. 😉

Die großen Blütenblätter habe ich immer einmal abgestempelt, bevor sie auf die Karte kamen, so dass sie etwas heller sind als die kleineren.

I stamped off the big petals once so they would look a bit lighter than the small ones.

Die Idee aus den Swirls solche Blumen zu machen habe ich von Mahes, einer australischen Demonstratorin, die aber scheinbar keinen eigenen Blog hat. Danke Mahes!

… März war’s, da hatte mein Vater Geburtstag und es musst mal wieder etwas „Besonderes“ als Karte/ Verpackung her. Und weil Schokolade IMMER eine gute Idee ist, gab es dieses Mal eine Schatztruhe gefüllt mit Schokolade für ihn gebastelt:

It was way back then in March when we celebrated my dad’s Birthday. And of course I needed something „extraordinaire“ for a card/ box. Since chocolate is ALWAYS a good idea I made a treasure chest filled with chocolate for him:

Damit die Ballons über der Schatztruhe schweben, habe ich mit Pop-Up Elementen gearbeitet. Hier kann man’s ein bisschen besser erkennen:

Der Hintergrund ist – wie sollte es auch anders sein – Himmelblau und die Wolken sind mit der glatten Rückseite der Baumkrone aus dem Stempelset „Baum der Freundschaft“ mit Craftweiß gestempelt worden.

For the Background I used – guess what – „Soft Sky“ and the clouds were stamped in Craft ink with the flat backside of the tree-top stamp from the „Sheltering Tree“ stamp set.

Au der Rückseite des Ganzen war dann noch genügend Platz für meine persönlichen Glückwünsche an meinen Vater:

Worte, die gut tun… und ein Eis

„Worte, die gut tun“ heißt das neue Stempelset, bei dem für jedes verkauftes Set 2,25€ an die McDonald’s Kinderhilfe gespendet wird. Deshalb musste ich dieses besondere Stempelset unbedingt auch kaufen und spiele schon ein paar Wochen damit herum. Passend zu dem Set gibt es die „Baumstanze“, die auch bei meiner Karte für das Ausstanzen der Eiskugeln zum Einsatz gekommen ist.

„Sprinkles of Life“ is the new stampset that supports the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). one of the main reasons why I decided to buy this stamp set. Now I’ve been playing with it for a couple of weeks. There is also the „Tree Builder Punch“ that I used to punch out the ice cream scoops.

Der Hintergrund der Karte wurde mit dem neuen In-Color Farbkarton in „Taupe“ gestaltet – nach dem Verlust meiner Lieblingsfarbe „Kandiszucker“ ist „Tip Top Taupe“ meiner Meinung nach ein würdiger Nachfolger. ich muss aber gestehen, dass ich die Eistüte noch mit „Kandiszucker“ gestaltet habe und auch in den Eiskugeln versteckt sich noch das geliebte „Pistazie“ zwischen den Aktuellen Farben „Pflaumenblau“, „Kirschblüte“, „Safrangelb“, „Melonensorbet“ und „Minz-Makrone“ – Ich muss mich wohl erst langsam „entwöhnen“ 😉

For the Background I used the new In-Color „Tip-Top Taupe“ (-don’t you love the sound of that name?!) – after loosing „Baked Brown Sugar“ I personally think Tipt Top Taupe is a worthy replacement. But yet I have to confess, that I still used Baked Brown Sugar for the cone and even for one ice cream scoop I sneaked in „Pistachio Pudding“. I guess it takes some time to „wean myself off“ those beautiful colors 😉

Geburtstagskarte mit Kinokarten

Ich habe den Auftrag bekommen, ein paar Kinokarten hübsch zu verpacken und am besten noch gleich eine passende Geburtstagskarte zu gestalten. Das Geschenk war für einen 50ten Geburtstag gedacht. Ich habe mich schließlich für die „Zwei in Einem“ -Variante entschieden. Die Idee dazu habe ich auf Heike`s Blog gefunden, die dazu auch ein Anleitungsvideo gepostet hat.

I received a request to special-wrap some movie tickets and add a matching Birthday card if possible. The present was ment for a 50th Birthday. I finally decided to go with the „two in one“ kind of card. I found the idea on Heike’s blog who also posted a video with step by step instructions.

Die Kinokarten kamen schon in einem hübschen Umschlag und da dieser auch Flyer und weitere Infos zum Kino erhielt, wollte ich die Gutscheinkarte passend gestalten, damit man beides überreichen kann. Hier seht Ihr den Originalumschlag mit meiner Karte:

The movie tickets already came in a somewhat pretty envelope and since it also held more informations and flyers about the movie theatre etc. I wanted my card to match the look of the envelope. So here you see a photo of both, my card and the „original“ envelope:

Da ich mal wieder vergessen hatte, die Karte zu fotografieren, bevor der Text geschrieben war ( — typisch!!!), musste ich ein bisschen nachhelfen und den Text aus dem Bild löschen.

Since I forgot yet again, to take a picture of the card before writing the personal greeting ( — just typical!) I had to „erase“ some of the text from the picture, sorry about that.

SU-Kenner sehen sofort, dass für dieses Projekt eine ganze Menge „alter“ Produkte verwendet wurden, so dass die Produktliste am Ende dieses Posts jetzt ziemlich kurz ausfallen wird 😉 Ich hoffe, es hat der Empfängerin trotzdem gefallen und lädt Euch zum Ausprobieren dieser Kartentechnik mit Euren eigenen kreativen Ideen ein!

Everybody who knows and follows SU can see right awawy, that I used a whole bunch of „old“ products for this project which might make the product list at the end a bit shorter than usually 😉 I hope the person receiving the card still liked it and maybe I was able to inspire you, to give the card technique a try and work it with your own creative ideas!
