In dem wunderschönen neuen Frühjahrs-/ Sommer-Katalog findet Ihr einen neuen Einzelstempel, der es mir gleich angetan hat, mit dem Namen „Love Is Kindness“.

In our new and beautiful Spring/Summer catalog you can also find a new single stamp that I knew I wanted the moment I saw it. It’s called „Love Is Kindness“.

Die Tulpen im Zeitungspapier finde ich einfach bezaubernd — sie erinnern mich an den „Blumenfritzen“ auf dem Wochenmarkt, der seine Blumen noch selber anbaut, schneidet und dann auch gerne mal in Zeitungspapier gewickelt verkauft. 🙂

I  love the tulips in the newspaper — they remind me of the guy at the farmers market who grows and harvests the flowers he sells himself and doesn’t mind wrapping them in newspaper.

Der Stempel eignet sich wunderbar, um mit den neuen Mix-Markern herum zu spielen – ich habe sie mir als Sale-A-Bration Geschenk gegönnt und musste nun gleich mal üben. Aber vorher habe ich mir den Stempel passend gemacht: Der Spruch ist ja ganz nett, aber eben nicht für jeden Anlass geeignet und bekanntlich freut sich nicht jeder über eine Karte mit englischem Gruß. Zuerst war das ja für mich ein Grund, den Stempel nicht zu kaufen, aber stattdessen habe ich mir anders weiter geholfen:

The stamp is just perfect for playing with our „new“ Mix-Markers. I got them as a Sale-A-Bration bonus and had to try my hand on them right away. But before doing so, I altered the stamp to fit my purposes. Though the sentiment is great, it’s maybe not perfect for all the occasions I would want to use the flowers for. Plus, since I live in Germany not everybody appreciates a card with an English sentiment. 😉  The language part was actually one reason I was considering not purchasing the stamp, but in the end I decided to do this:

Schnipp Schnapp – ab! Ich hatte noch einen alten kleineren Holzblock übrig mit einem Stempel, der mir gar nicht gefiel (den hatte ich selbst geschnitzt 😉 ). Das alte Stempelgummi habe ich also entsorgt (man sieht auf dem zweiten Bild noch ein wenig die Klebereste) und dann hab ich den abgeschnittenen Spruch dort drauf montiert. Das Gleiche dann noch mit dem Aufkleber — voilá! Aus eins macht zwei!

Snip, snip, off we go! I had a small wood block left over from a stamp I really didn’t care for (it was one I tried carving myself 😉  ). So I threw away the old rubber stamp (you can see some gooey remains on the second photo), then mounted the cut off sentiment on it. Same with the sticker on the other side and — voilá! Makes two out of one!

Jetzt aber endlich zu den Karten…

And now finally on to the cards…

Den ersten Malversuch habe ich mit den Calypso-Markern gestartet. Das war einfacher, als ich dachte, und so habe ich dieses Projekt auch gleich behalten und dann mit den Osterglocke-Markern weiter geübt.

First I practiced coloring with the Calypso Coral markers. It was easier than I thought and so I kept my first try and continued on with the Daffodil Delight markers.

Und weil es so viel Spaß gemacht hat, warum nicht zum Schluss auch einen bunten Tulpenstrauß?

And since it was so much fun, why not use both colors in one bouquet?

Den Hintergrund habe ich mit den großen Punkten geprägt, was man auf den Fotos irgendwie kaum erkennen kann.

I used the Large Polkadots embossing folder for the background, which you can hardly tell on the photos.

Das Zeitungspapier, das um die Blumen gewickelt ist, wollte ich nicht einfach so Flüsterweiß lassen, deshalb habe ich dieses Motiv noch einmal auf VanillePur Farbkarton gestempelt, ausgeschnitten, auf das Original geklebt und dabei mit einem Leinenfaden zweimal umwickelt.

I didn’t want to leave the newspaper that is wrapped around the flowers just in plain Whisper White, so I stamped just the newspaper on Very Vanilla cardstock, cut it out, then glued it on the original while wrapping it twice with Linen Thread.
